Dennis Aaron Rush (May 6, 1944 - May 13, 2023)

Dennis Aaron Rush, 79, passed away May 13, 2023, of natural causes in Billings, MT.

Dennis was born May 6, 1944, in Worland, WY to Clair and Louise (Dockery) Rush. He graduated from high school in Thermopolis, WY, in 1962 and married Margo Yonkee in 1964. They moved to Missoula, MT, in January 1965 to continue their college work.

Dennis worked many jobs in his lifetime, always with an outdoor component. When he chose outdoor work as his lifetime goal, he interrupted his college work with stints in the Forest Service both in WY and MT. He also served two summers as a park ranger in Glacier National Park. He graduated with a Bachelor of Science in Forestry from the University of MT in 1969 and began his 25-year career as a MT Game Warden in 1970. He was first assigned to Glasgow, but was soon moved to Helena. When Malta needed a new game warden in 1973 he requested, and received, this post which he served until retiring in 1995.

Dennis loved the outdoors and enjoyed fishing, hunting, and gardening. He was also a good cook.

Dennis was preceded in death by his parents, his brother Danny Joe, and his beloved daughter, Retta Johnsen.

He is survived by his wife of over 58 years and his three sons, Damon (Kaye) Rush of Pocatello, ID, Darvin Rush of Missoula, MT, and Jordan (Jenny Peigneux) Rush of Gillette, WY; nine grandchildren and six great-grandchildren.

A celebration of life will be held later this summer.
