One Nation, Under God

Whitewater News & Opinion for Wednesday, June 7, 2023

Sympathy for the immigrants and homeless people who have no place to go.

Sympathy to the family of Terry McMullen. He was raised in Whitewater.

Ray McMullen was his brother. Bonnie McMullen was his sister-in-law.

On Memorial Day, some went to the Veterans Parade and BBQ lunch in Malta.

Others went to the lake (Nelson Reservoir). The water is high enough to go boating, but probably cold for swimming.

Sleeping Buffalo pools were full too.

Memorial Day we remember all those who died, especially in wars. “Salute to Them”.

We remember Danny Austin who died in a US Army Air Force crash at the age of 19. It is such a tragedy, a horrible loss of lives in war.

We pray for peace.

Dad (Harry Austin) from Whitewater served in World War I in 1918. Fred Alley Sr. of Whitewater served in the US Army, as did Bill Murdock. Salute to them.

Gene Brown served in the US Navy for over 30 years. He traveled to many places. Gene is now retired and lives in Billings. Salute to you Gene.

The WHS class of 2023 painted 2023 on rocks on the big hill. This is a tradition of WHS. “Good Job” to whoever painted them.

It is quiet in Whitewater since school is out. Many are on vacation. Somer and Rory Green went to visit grandparents in Spearfish South Dakota.

In Whitewater, our trees are budded into beautiful green leaves. They were slow leafing out, probably because it has been so cold.

Most farmers, including Curt Reichelt, are through farming spring wheat. Good luck.

There are not many geese here. Maybe it was too cold.

Some say the Canadian geese went north to Canada!

Here’s hoping they have their passports!

Enjoy the summer weather!
