One Nation, Under God

Loring News for Wednesday, August 2, 2023

For two nights the thunderstorms have been amazing! The lightning was really bright, but the thunder wasn’t very loud. We even got a little rain both nights! It didn’t get measured in my new rain gauge though!

I had a bout of stomach flu off and on for a week. I actually went to the ER for an IV to replenish the fluid I’d lost. I thought I was getting well, and it came back and hit me low again. I’m definitely getting better this time!

Lu and I traveled to Malta on Monday evening for a GPDM monthly meeting.

I went to Malta on Friday to meet with some friends from my childhood. Murray Matthews and his wife Merry and Murray’s cousin Valerie Cervenka met me at the GN coffee shop and we talked for a couple of hours! Val would come in the summer and stay with Ione and Lyman Corney right across the road from our house. Murray said they had driven out to Loring during the week and had a picnic at the Loring Bar! Just like old times except the bar was closed!

Cindy Clark hosted a Sunday brunch of blueberry lemon Dutch baby! It was like a German pancake. Very delicious!

Until next week, if your mower gets high-centered in a ditch, don’t try to push it out by pushing on the back of the seat.
