Locals Welcome National VFW Auxiliary President

Five members of the Buster Deo VFW Post 4067 Auxiliary traveled to Billings on Thursday morning to welcome, greet and meet the National VFW Auxiliary President. President Carla Martinez, was greeted at the airport with a flag procession and "God Bless America" being shared. The group also displayed welcoming signs and posters.

In the group were Mary Waters, Sharon Kindle, Shirley Reynolds, Kari Hould and Mellissa Sandvick.

The five are officers of the local Auxiliary and joined four others from Billings who came out for the occasion.

The Malta ladies all wore pins the National President has selected for her term, and wore VFWA attire.

One sign had Carla's picture on it and WELCOME in bright yellow.

The other posters shared messages about Phillips County and Malta stating: home of Gold Star Mother Mellissa Sandvick, home of Leonard the Dinosaur, the Sleeping Buffalo Hot Springs, and home of Guinness World Record World's Largest Hamburger – 6040#. The sign shared that Malta is home to 1,845 nice people, three that are cantankerous and two that one might want to want to avoid. A sign with the State of Montana in blue, Post 4067, a yellow flag reminding us we await the return of every military person home also remembered the POW-MIA and KIA (Prisoners of War, Missing in Action and Killed in Action).

The group met and visited and exchanged ideas, thoughts and concerns while having lunch.

Past Department President Carol Evans and Department Secretary Jane Loucks attended, along with Gale Bestland and Larry Lundvall, all residents of Billings.
