One Nation, Under God

Street Talk...for Wednesday, November 15, 2023

Question: "What were you doing, what do you remember or where were you when President John F. Kennedy was assassinated?"

Michael Munoz: "I was in Detroit, my mom was taking a nap. I caught the news on the TV that the President had been assassinated and I woke her up and told her. I clearly remember this impactful event."

Janeen Brookie: "I was probably two years old, watching tv, playing with my "Midge" Barbie doll, when the cartoons were interrupted for the President's funeral. I remember the horse pulling the casket."

Don Voegel: "We were in history class, I was in Oakland, Calif., at Holy Redeemer College, I was just in high school, when Fr. Ferrell came in and said, pray for our President, he's just been shot. I still remember it like it was yesterday."

Greg Kirkwood: "I was a junior in high school, our coach at the gym was one tough character; he never gave anyone a break for anything, you always had to be on the go. The word came over the PA system that the President had been shot and the words out of his mouth were "everyone sit down and SHUT UP'!" They dismissed school early, and the next three or four days we watched everything on television."
