Maverick Men Fall to Turner, Circle; Heading to Break

The North Country Mavericks' boys basketball team dropped a pair of games last week, falling 90-50 to the Turner Tornadoes on Tuesday, December 19, and 65-45 to the Circle Wildcats on Thursday, December 21.

In the Mavs' loss to Turner, North Country was led by Blaine Downing, who had 11 points, nine rebounds, three steals, and three assists. Kade Strommen had 11 points, four rebounds, and two steals. Laytin Erickson had eight points and seven rebounds. Jake Brown had eight points. Coy Bowman had six points, three rebounds, and three assists. Chase Albus had six points and four rebounds.

In their loss to Circle, Brown led the Mavericks with 18 points. Strommen had 14 points. Bowman had 12 points. Albus had one point.

The Mavericks will observe Christmas break and do not have a game scheduled until Saturday, January 6, when they host the Scobey Spartans. The boys' varsity game is set to start at 5:30 p.m. in Saco.
