Question: What was the worst winter you remember and why?

Ken Blunt: It was the winter of 1978-79. The roads were blocked for extended periods of time. We were snowed in for over 30 days...snow was at the top of the wire fences.

Myrtle Hould: We had lots of snow when I was a child, LOTS of snow. My brother Seymour was the oldest, (of 10 children) and Mother had knit a long scarf that we all hung on to and would help each other up when we fell...sometimes we fell deliberately and we would giggle. The snow was so deep. One year (1970's) Denver had to call the commissioners to open the road to get the ewes to the valley for lambing. They started the next morning!

*Lived thru 100+ winters

Penny Mackey: I think it was in 1949, I remember the snow was so deep we were walking on top of the fences.

Margaret Leader: The winter of 1949-50. We were living right across from the school in Dodson and we had a barn behind our house. The drifts of the snow were clear up to the peak on the barn because the snow was so deep. You could walk across the fence because the snow was so deep and you didn't fall through.
