High Speed Chase Goes Through Phillips County; Suspects Arrested

On Tuesday, January 23, 2024, at approximately 2337 hours, Phillips County Sheriff's Office dispatch received a mutual aid request from Blaine County for a vehicle pursuit headed towards Phillips County on US 2.

The request stated the suspect vehicle was traveling at speeds over 100 miles per hour. The occupants of the vehicle were suspected of transporting drugs. Phillips County deputies prepared to deploy spike strips at Dodson but the pursuit did not make it to that location and the vehicle was lost by the pursuing deputies.

Law enforcement officers from Blaine County, Fort Belknap, the FBI, and Phillips County searched for the vehicle for several hours without luck. On Wednesday, January 24, 2024, at approximately 0400 hours, the suspect vehicle was spotted near a residence northwest of Dodson by a Phillips County Deputy and a pursuit ensued.

The vehicle traveled east on US 2 at speeds up to 120 miles per hour. The Sheriff, Undersheriff, and two deputies along with FBI agents pursued the suspect vehicle through Phillips County and into Valley County where a Valley County deputy was able to spike two of the suspect vehicle tires. The vehicle continued for several more miles before losing control and sliding into the ditch.

At approximately 0454 hours, after a brief standoff with law enforcement, the driver, Levi Newton, and passenger, Brooke Newton, both of Great Falls, surrendered and were taken into custody and transported to the Valley County Detention Center. Charges are expected to be filed in Blaine, Phillips, and Valley counties as a result of the pursuit. The investigation is ongoing at this time and there is no further danger to the public.
