Did You Know??? PCH Has A Swing Bed Program

Phillips County Hospital offers many services to our community, one of which is the Swing Bed Program. The Swing Bed Program we have in place is a Medicare-funded program that provides you with a chance to receive extended care in a hospital setting. Swing bed is a form of transitional care. Most patients who use this service do so because they need further treatment before they can return home. Swing Bed services allow a patient to transition from acute care to Skilled Nursing care then eventually to home. Typically, this may be after surgery, injury, or illness.

We have a great team that works together in order to provide you with the best care. We have our Providers, Nursing Staff, Physical Therapy, Occupational Therapy, Medicare Coordinator, and a Registered Dietician are all available to focus on the patient care and come together with the patient to discuss their care plan designed uniquely to that individual for the services and care they are needing.

With our Rehabilitation team, they will work with each individual to improve functional abilities and improve quality of life for those with physical impairments. For example, patients who had joint surgery, amputations, suffered farm injuries, motor vehicle accidents, cardiac procedures, lung illness, strokes and patients who have complex wound or other debilitating condition can benefit from these services prior to going home or to the next level of care.

With the Skilled Nursing Services this can include treatments such as long-term IV antibiotic infusions, IV administration of medications to manage pain and related symptoms, as well as sterile or complex dressing changes. Skilled Nursing Care compliments rehabilitation services and is crucial after a major surgery or illness to restore abilities.

If you or a family member are at another facility for any of the above mentioned reasons and need further care in the Swing Bed Program, please reach out to us with any questions or concerns regarding this. To reach our Medicare Coordinator, you can call 406-654-5038.
