One Nation, Under God

Local Day of Prayer Event Well Attended

Amid the blessing of pending rain and gusts of wind, the decision to move the local Day of Prayer from the Courthouse lawn to the warm and ever-welcoming River's Bend Assisted Living Center was a wise one. About 50 people joined in prayer, worship and fellowship as the intentions for peace and answers across our nation were offered.

Pr. Orvin Solberg shared, "Our heavenly Father is not caught unaware. Through prayer, we are able to tap into his wisdom, strength, protection and peace. He stands ready to respond to our needs, when we humbly ask for divine intervention in the affairs of men. As we pray for America, whose pledge of allegiance recounts that we are one nation under god, and whose currency states, that it is god we trust, we want Americans to encounter the God who rules over their country. He who forms the mountains, creates the winds and reveals his thoughts to man. He who turns the dawn into darkness and treads the high places of the earth."

Pr. Solberg continued, "We look across the nation and across the world and see unrest and evil. Bless our town of Malta, our county of Phillips, our state of Montana, and America itself. Give us guidance in all that we do."

Those present were then invited to break into groups and do prayers within the circles. This time was for sharing, praying and discussing ways in which we can all work to make a difference. There were many intercessions for the youth of today, and all the trials and temptations they face daily.

Don Voegel then addressed the gathering, "The hour has already come for you to wake up from your slumber, for salvation is nearer now than we first believed. The night is nearly over, the day is almost here."

He challenged the audience, "The words (of the scripture he shared) understanding the present time, should jump right off the page and penetrate your heart...the hour has already come to wake up from your slumber...," then he stressed, "to say that the handwriting is on the wall is a gross understatement. Wake up, this nation is under God's judgment and is heading for destruction. Wake up! We have been warned. Remember the financial collapse of 2007? Remember 9/11? Remember CoVid 19?"

Pr. Bob Nagy joined in the prayer session, with the closing message. "It is an honor to come to you in prayer, as individuals in prayer. Together we form a great voice, wanting to share your love for the world. My heart is on the concern of so many leaders at the national and federal level, state level..."

"Be with all of your creation and help us learn to talk and listen to one another instead of demanding our ways."

Four talented guitar players entertained the group with songs of praise and hope, offering opening music and during the messages from those speaking. The men included John Koss, Jim Fauth, Bob Johnson and Gordy Faaborg, who also closed with prayers in the form of songs.

Most of the churches were represented. The River's Bend Assisted Living Center was an appropriate venue for the evening, as prayers for the elderly were also included.
