Shirley Joyce (Knutson) Tribby, 89, passed away on May 27, 2024, in Malta, Montana. A service will be held at the Malta Lutheran Church on Friday, May 31, 2024, at 11:00 a.m. Burial will take place at the Malta Cemetery followed by lunch at the church.
Shirley was born in Malta on March 10, 1935, to Kenneth and Christine (Loraas) Knutson. She grew up in Saco and Malta, attending the Malta Schools. After graduating from high school, she attended nursing school in Havre, Montana. On July 14, 1954, Shirley married Lloyd (Pete) Tribby. Pete and Shirley enjoyed 60 years together and raised seven children.
Shirley was a lifetime homemaker and mother, a member of the Malta Lutheran Church WELCA, spent many hours sewing clothing and quilts for all of her family members, and raised a large garden. She also enjoyed painting and finishing wood products made by Pete in his workshop.
Whenever she was asked what her greatest joy and accomplishment in life was, she would always say that it was raising seven hardworking, loving children, and getting to see them and her grandchildren grow up.
Shirley is survived by her children Mike (Debbie) Tribby, Chris (Jim) Taylor, Pam (Bill) Langel, Janna (Clint) Simpson, Lori (Tom) Kruse, Kathy Tribby, and Dawn (Barry) Crowder. She is also survived by her grandchildren Amber Simpson, Rheannon Tribby, Michaela Haynes, Renee Lopez, Ronni Erickson, Shayn Crowder, and seven great-grandchildren.
She is preceded in death by her husband Pete and her granddaughter Jessica Langel.
The family asks that donations be made to Malta Lutheran Church.
