Whitewater News & Opinion for Wednesday, June 5, 2024

May 29: Happy Birthday and Happy Anniversary to all who celebrated in May.

Get well wishes to Bonnie McMullen and all who are sick.

Whitewater has been busy and well-populated recently. There were baccalaureate services at the Whitewater Lutheran Church, followed by graduation at the school. Both ceremonies were well attended.

Previously, there was an awards ceremony, followed by a supper. Congratulations to all graduates.

There was a benefit for the EMT’s to repair the local ambulance. That was well attended.

FYI: Whitewater is 35 minutes from Malta. Also, Whitewater is 30 or 40 miles from the Canadian Border, so it is a distance to go to Dr.’s appointments or the hospital. If you would like to contribute, call the WHS for more information.

Our town is quiet. School is out, but most students live in the country and ride the bus. When I grew up, there was no bus. That was in the pioneer days!!

We had rain, everything is nice and green, the trees are all getting leaves.

Here’s my recipe for Pioneer Stew

Ingredients:

Potatoes, meat of any kind cubed up, carrots chopped

and peas, rutabaga or turnips chopped.

Add all ingredients together and cook until nice and tender.

June 5: Sympathy to the Dunbar family on the passing of Barb Dunbar. The Dunbar family lives in Whitewater. She will be missed by everyone who knew her.

It is the end of May. This month has gone by fast, with lots of goings on.

The school had concerts, track meets, and graduation.

Farmers and ranchers were calving, now branding and now they are seeding.

Now it is June 2024! A beautiful day. Happy Birthday and Anniversary to all those celebrating including Janet Brown and her sons Gene and Glen Brown.

Get well wishes to Gayle Simonson and Pat Murdock.

Jeannie Green went to her grandkids’ track meets and graduation. Now she has returned to Arizona.

Justin Austin and sons came to Sleeping Buffalo and then returned home to Whitewater. Justin and family live in Colorado. They also have 2 girls.

The oldest graduated from 8th grade. They grow up so fast.

Many from Whitewater went to the “Celebration of Life” for Bob and Pat Anderson.

Congratulations to Lorraine Hellie for winning a recent radio contest.

A lovely sunny day here in Whitewater. Birds are singing, even the meadowlarks, geese and ducks are building nests near Whitewater Creek.

Enjoy Spring!
