One Nation, Under God

Not Fired?!?!

Anyone that knows me, knows I love my Chicago Bears...

After Sunday’s “embearassing” 55-14 loss to Green Bay I am convinced that the team has no heart, our coaching staff needs to be canned or the team is tanking this season on purpose for next year’s draft.

I only believe two of the aforementioned in my heart.

It’s rough sledding for Chicago, who at one time had one of the most feared defenses in the league.

Apparently the Packers admitted the next day to knowing the Bears defensive signals.

Monday: Hopefully they will do the right thing and fire all or most of the coaching staff.... More to come on the subject further down.

It’s just sad to see a professional team, especially one that I grew up with get smashed week after week.

I wish I had millions or thousands of dollars to lose.

Just the other day, I was watching a ESPN 30 for 30 segment on professional athletes declaring bankruptcy.

One of them had the nerve to say money isn’t everything....

I can agree with the statement to some extent, because I believe the worship of money is wrong...

I wouldn’t be mad however, if I got a shot at a million dollar job or idea.

It’s messed up that Jay Cutler is earning more than any other player this year, yet he has the most turnovers of anyone this season.

Anyway enough about that....

I am super proud of our teams in Phillips County.

People didn’t expect much from the young and undersized Mustangs.

But the team didn’t give up and defeated Roundup in the first round of the State B playoffs.

The M-ettes volleyball team nearly punched their first ticket to state in a couple of decades.

Our cross Country teams both had state placers.

And Saco-Hinsdale finished second in the conference during the regular season.

It’s been a great fall season, and I have enjoyed every game that I’ve had the privilege to cover.

I’m really looking forward to basketball season, due to the fact three of our teams made it to state.

To make it to second place and third place, the M-ettes and Mustangs will look to climb the mountain all over again thanks to the amount of starting players returning.

The wrestling crew from Malta was great as well last year, with a few wrestlers placing high into the state competition.

Now that PJ is learning to crawl and nearly survived three volleyball games, my wife Susan and I can’t wait to bring him to watch my first love. Basketball.

I remember when my maternal grandmother was alive, she was the biggest basketball fan in her age group that I knew...

My brothers and I would spend many nights at her house watching the Michael Jordan led Chicago Bulls.

It was always something to look forward to after another Bears season lost.

I could only hope Pj loves sports as much as his daddy, because I don’t know how many more times I can let Dancing with the Stars defile my television. (I mean “our” television).

Later Monday: The Bears kept their whole staff... Grrrr..
