Michael Eugene Matthews

Michael Eugene Matthews died February 25, 2015 at the home of his second Mom, Darlene Byers, of Stryker, Mt. where he and his wife Denise have lived since Nov. when their home was destroyed by fire.

After a losing battle with pancreatic cancer the past five months, the Lord called him home. He was buried at Fortine, Mt. on Feb. 27.

Michael was born Aug. 18, 1956 at Malta, Mt. He attended schools in Whitewater and Malta. After high school Michael worked at Job Corp in Anaconda and became a certified welder from Vo-Tech in Billings. He was a home builder and could fix anything that needed repairing for his many friends in the Eureka-Whitefish area where he had lived for the past 35 years.

Michael is survived by his wife Denise, his ex-wife Mary Erie and their only daughter Charity Matthews and five children of Eureka, two step sons Jesse and Neil of Kalispell and two daughters of Denise, Patricia and Ginger of Sand Point, Idaho, father Dewain (Lola) Matthews of Malta and Yuma, Az., Mother Anna Faye Simms of Malta, brothers Danny (Lisa) Matthews of Loveland, Co., Larry (Susan) Matthews of Lake Havasu, Az., Aunts Carol (Dan) Williams of Landusky, Debbie (John) Severeide of Cody, Wy., and Lulu Belle Besel of Whitewater, also many cousins, nephews and a niece.

A memorial service will be held at a later date in Fortine, Mt. Memorial donations in honor of Michael Eugene Matthews to the American Cancer Society.
