Ron Stoneberg just doesn’t get all this fuss over sage grouse.
In a recent column in the Phillips County News, the Hinsdale rancher wrote: “You would be hard pressed to find anyone who believes the sage grouse in Montana are in danger of becoming extinct in the fore-seeable future.”
Well, look no further, Ron.
I didn’t see any sage grouse last hunting season and I hunt more days than not. While I found sharptail grouse, Hungarian partridge, and pheasants in their usual haunts, not a single sage grouse rose from the cover where I’m accustomed to finding them.
