One Nation, Under God

Whitewater News for the Week of September 9, 2015

Our sympathy to the fire victims and firefighters in various places around Montana and Canada. For several days, the smoke was thick all the way up here in Whitewater. A friend, Cindy E., gave me a ride from Malta. Her daughter, husband and four little girls were evacuated from their home near Glacier Park. They are now living in a motor home in Malta. They received assistance from the Food Bank and the Phillips County Ministerial Association through the help of Pastor Heppner of Elim Church. Both groups are great organizations to help others.

Lou Bessell has a great farmer’s market and gave me some vegetables. George Soenichson also gave me some great vegetables. It is great to have such wonderful gardeners close by.

Patty Young had six grandchildren over the weekend. They all had a good time.

Ree Simonson and Margie Olson went to Margie’s child’s wedding in Idaho. I am sure it was nice.

Linda B. had family from Canada and went to the Sleeping Buffalo recently. They all enjoyed the resort.

Good luck to Berta Ramirez and Colton, who moved to South Dakota.

The Lutheran Church now has a joint Sunday School with Malta. They will meet during church services, some weeks in Malta and other times in Whitewater with alternating schedules. When they get plans complete, I will write them. All are welcome to attend.

Sally A. went to the “field day” at the Wasson Farms on her birthday. The next day she went to Fort Peck Theater with members of her family.

Good luck to all the college students, especially to our Laramie Scheffelmear who is attending Miles City College on a full basketball scholarship! Great!

The Boys and Girls Club begins September 9, after school. All children are welcome. For information, contact Pastor Wisher of Whitewater Baptist Church.

Whitewater High School writes and prints a nice newsletter. It is distributed by the post office. It stated that September is National Potato Month. Cook some potatoes!
