My Vietnam Story

Born and raised in Dodson, Carl Solberg left for Vietnam at the age of 19

Having grown up on a farm in Northern Montana, I made plans to go into the Army early in high School. I was called to Vietnam when stationed in Germany, however getting to Vietnam from Germany turned out to be more than I had bargained for. I was allowed 30 days to get from Germany to Vietnam and my wish was to spend as much time with family as possible. Upon arriving in New Jersey, I discovered there was an airline strike in the US, so I spent a great deal of my leave aboard a bus traveling from the east coast to Montana.
