One Nation, Under God

Internet Crimes Against Children meetings next week in Malta

It is an amazing time for our digitally connected youth. The Internet and a variety of digital devices can bring the world, with all its’ good, and not so good, right into the hands of our kids and teens.

Technology provides wonderful opportunities to learn, share and contribute. These opportunities also bring challenges to parents and their families. The information provided on this website comes directly from those who work to protect children across this country every day.

As noted by the Crimes Against Children Research Center (2006),

"The Internet holds tremendous potential for our nation's youth, however, the misuse of the Internet to prey on them is a serious problem requiring action by legislators, families, communities, and law enforcement”.

We are concerned about inappropriate content, harassment and threats, theft of personal information and those who prey and attempt to lure children.

Parents of Malta Public School students are encouraged to join Under Sheriff Frank Bill Mayer of the Blaine County Sheriff’s Department and the Internet Crimes Against Children (ICAC) Task Force on Wednesday – February 3 at 6:00 pm in the Malta High School Auditorium. This presentation will provide up-front and candid information to parents regarding the many threats that exist over the Internet. Information in the hands of involved parents is the greatest way to combat these threats and protect kids and teens.

In addition to the parents program we have scheduled student presentations at the following times:

Malta High School students and staff on Wednesday, February 3 at 12:45 p.m.

in the MHS Auditorium and for Malta Middle School students and staff on Wednesday, February 3 at 1:45 pm in the MHS Auditorium
