Malta Boy's & Girls Club celebrates National Week

National Celebration Empowers Americas’ Kids and Teens with Youth Bill of Rights

To kick-off National Boys & Girls Club Week, Boys & Girls Clubs of the Hi-Line, Malta Extension, invites the community to join more than 4,100 Clubs across the nation in its effort to empower America’s youth by supporting the ‘Youth Bill of Rights ’ on change.org. The effort calls attention to importance of providing children and teens with a place and platform where they are encouraged to express their concerns and engage in community initiatives.

“Malta Boys & Girls Club is dedicated to making a positive influence on children and teens in the Phillips County Community. We are proud of the work that our Clubs are doing to make this community great,” said Carol L. Smith, Executive Director of Boys & Girls Club of the Hi-Line, Malta Extension. “During this celebration we hope that the community is motivated by the things going on at the Club and are inspired to support our efforts.”

During 2015, the Club served a total of 172 members, averaging 46 youth per day during the school year and 31 youth during the summer. One hundred members of those members attended Club for more than two years, twenty-nine attended one to two years and 43 members attended less than one year.

“At the heart of our organization is a desire to positively influence the lives of young people in our community,” said Sonia Young, Director of the Malta Boys & Girls Club. “We are more than just a safe place for youth to go after school. We want everyone to know about the dozens of life-changing programs we offer to hundreds of kids in the community our Club serves every year. Boys & Girls Club Week is a great time to see how we impact the lives of young people through programs aimed to promote academic success, healthy lifestyles and good character.”

With the theme ‘Celebrate Red, White and Boys & Girls Club BLUE,’ National Boys & Girls Clubs Week, March 7-12, 2016 will feature the many ways Malta Boys & Girls Club is opening the door to great futures for children and teens in Phillips County.
