Hunters getting better every year

Dear Editor,

We would like to compliment the folks who came to Horse Ranch along Timber Creek to hunt this year. Hunters are getting better every year. Staying on the road may seem unimportant, but it is important to us, because we use the roads to fence, etc., and find noxious weeds much sooner. You did a great job this year. We routinely pick up garbage. It used to be bottles and cans, now we just find Styrofoam cups (I can’t wait for those made out of biodegradable lignin) and plastic wrappers that our famous merry little breezes snatch out of vehicles. Those things are much easier to stuff in your pocket horseback than are bottle and cans! People brought us food treats, work gloves, fixed a gate the elk had knocked down, reported where the elk had flattened the fence, reported cows that looked out of place… Several groups asked to camp here. They left absolutely nothing behind. We appreciate your courtesy and consideration. (And it always makes a good impression when someone says, “Hey, don’t you guys have something to sign about all the problems with the bison?”) We hope you enjoyed your outdoor experience and supplemented your freezers.
