Two 2017 seniors will share the Fred L. Robinson Scholarship

Malta High School seniors Grant O’Brien and Mariah Salveson will each receive $3,000 from the Fred L. Robinson Scholarship this year. An unbreakable tie resulted in the co-eds sharing the $6,000 scholarship. This is not uncommon as in 2006 a tie also resulted in two scholarship winners.

Grant O’Brien is the son of Dan and Sheila O'Brien. He plans to attend Montana Tech in Butte in the fall and plans to obtain a Bachelor’s of Science degree in Electrical Engineering.

Grant has been involved in Football, Basketball, Golf and Swim teams throughout his high school years. He also participates in Band, Key Club, Student Council, is a member of the National Honor Society and his church’s youth group.

Mariah Salveson plans to attend Minot State University in the fall and obtain a bachelor’s degree in Communication Disorders and a Master’s degree in Speech Pathology.

Mariah has been involved in Cross Country, Track, National Honor Society and her church’s youth group.

The Fred L. Robinson Scholarship is given annually to a Phillips County Senior. The award is in honor of the late Fred L. Robinson, prominent Malta businessman.
