Joelyn was born on July 5, 1954 in Malta, to Earl and Shirley (Tyler) Legg. Our mother was raised in Malta, MT, helping on the Tyler farm, growing up with cousins and three siblings, Robert Legg of Alberta, Canada, Tracie Legg of Helena, and Pam Beasley of Juneau, Alaska. She graduated from Malta High School in 1972.

On January 13, 1973, Joelyn, married Dale Slade of Malta at the Lutheran Church. Together they raised four children: Drew, Darci, DJ, and Chase. She spent her younger years working at the Good Samaritan Home as a Social Worker/CNA, as well as owned JR's Clothing Store downtown Malta. Her most important job, however, was organizing, and taking care of her children, which she enjoyed the most.

Our mother was an animal lover, with her current passion being for her three Papillon dogs. She was never able to tell us "no" when it came to any animal in need of a good home. She loved her grandchildren, spending most of her free time running up and down the road watching their activities, and being an active part of their lives. She loved reading a good book and enjoyed monthly dinner for eight parties with friends. Joelyn also loved hunting for exotic rocks, we all have a story of climbing on, in, or up, something we shouldn't have, so the rock could come home and be placed in the yard. Her love for rocks has been successfully passed on to several of her grandchildren. She has been an active member at the Malta Lutheran Church, serving on the Church Council Board.

Joelyn is survived by her husband of 44 years, Dale Slade of Malta; son, Drew (Season) Slade of Malta, daughter Darci (BG) Ammen of Turner, son, DJ (Misty) Slade of Billings, son Chase Slade of Billings, and mother, Shirley (Tyler) Legg of Malta, as well as her grandchildren: Gavin, Kimber, Ryan, Ali, Rhett, Jaylin, Evni, and many other relatives and close friends.

She was preceded in death by her grandparents James and Thelma Tyler, and father Earl Legg, all of Malta.
