Anita Lorainne Siegle

Anita Lorainne Siegle died peacefully in her sleep on Friday, January 26, 2018, in Missoula, Mont., at the age of 87. Anita is survived by her sister LaVerne, her children, Doug and Dennis, both of Missoula, and two grandsons, Shane of Missoula and Cody of Emigrant, Mont. Anita is preceded in death by her husband Walt and her sister Jeanne Bumnann of New Salem, North Dakota.

Anita was born on February 25, 1930, in New Salem, N. D., to Bill and Amelia Starck. She attended a country school outside of Judson, N.D. through the eighth grade and graduated from New Salem High School. Upon graduation, she went to work for a bank in Mandan, N.D., where she met and married Walt Siegle, who worked for the local J. C. Penny store. When Walt accepted a management position the couple moved to Chinook, Mont., where they welcomed the birth of their first son, Doug. When promoted Walt accepted a position in Sheridan, Wyo., where their second son, Dennis was born. The family then moved to Malta, Mont., where they opened and owned the local Ben Franklin store until the couple retired in 1977.

The couple retired to Hamilton, Mont., where they built a new home and became members of the Faith Lutheran Church. Ultimately Anita and Walt moved to Missoula and transferred their church affiliation to Atonement Church on the south side of town.

Anita was a member of Lutheran women's groups throughout her adult life and served as the matriarch of the family until her death.

A memorial service was held Saturday, February 3, at 11 a.m. at Atonement Lutheran Church, located at 2205 34th Street in Missoula. Pastor Daniel Disch officiated. A reception followed to celebrate Anita's life. In lieu of flowers, please send donations to Partners in Home Care at 2687 Palmer Street, Suite B Missoula, MT 59808.
