One Nation, Under God

That was nasty

I am snobbish about my coffee.

My love for the dark, heart pounding drink started when I was young and Starbucks was not yet a household name.

In those days, I had no idea how to make a cup of coffee. It was like hot water with a hint of coffee flavoring.

Then college came and of course, I found a coffee shop in St. Louis that made a cup of coffee that changed my life.

It was at a Starbucks around the same time that I learned about the French press or push down coffee. It is something that I have become accustomed to while working at the PCN. After years of service tragedy struck, when a part of my $7 French press broke.

My precious mother-in-law offered up her press to allow me to make the coffee I love at home.

Excited to try my new-to-me apparatus, I went to the store to get some decaf, due to how late I was planning on making it. I slept on it and woke up the next morning eager to brew coffee.

Knowing it was decaf, I brewed the coffee as I would any other coffee. I tasted it and it was the worst cup of coffee I had made in a long time. It was excruciating to drink. Remember, I am a snob.

I thought, “wow, maybe it’s stale because not many people drink decaf?” I continued to struggle through that cup of coffee. After I was about done, I went back to the bag to do the sniff test. The coffee smelled fresh and I have come to one conclusion; decaf does not taste as good as regular. If I am wrong, somebody let me know.

In other news, PJ felt the baby kick the other day and it freaked him out a little bit. He didn’t cry, he just pulled his hand back really fast and smiled.

Susan is doing great, other than being in pain and having a lack of sleep. So, actually maybe not that great??? I think the sleep part might be my fault. I’m a little gassy in the middle of the night. I blame the coffee.
