Grade school play pleases large audience

A capacity house saw the grade school military playlet last Friday evening in the City Hall. Excellent performances were given by characters in the military skit and a chorus of about 300-grade school children was an outstanding feature of the program.

The local epidemic of mumps caused some changes in the program, the principal shift being the substitution of Pete Lapham as the "tough top sergeant" for Jimmy Larcombe, who had been cast in the role.

Characters in the playlet included Evelyn Carberry as "Miss Spirit of Liberty," Ole Veseth as "Uncle Sam," James Todd as Mac Slade and Winston Mebust as "raw recruit," Delbert Long and Wendell Anderson as "two sailors," Dick Pancake as " a marine," Curtis Smith as "an orderly" and David Rostad, Walter Martin and Danny Vert as a "color guard."
