Dick was born in Rochester, Minn.., on May 18, 1931, to Stanley and Clara (Ulness) McNamara. He grew up in Dodson and was a star football, basketball and track performer for the Coyotes. Dick was a Korean War veteran proudly serving in the US Navy from 1950-54. He was stationed in Alaska, Hawaii, and Japan and was the flight engineer on a P2V "Sub Hunter". After returning from the war he married his high school sweetheart Lewellyn Boos on January 29th, 1955, at St. Mary's Catholic Church in Malta. They made their home in Malta where Dick worked in the sheriff's department as a Deputy and Undersheriff for over 10 years. Dick was an avid reader and loved a good game of Pinochle or Wahoo.
