One Nation, Under God

Whitewater News and Opinion for October 2, 2019

Sympathy to victims of floods in Texas and other places.

It’s hard to believe that it is already October. Happy birthday to all October birthdays including Joyce (Austin) Donoven, Lloyd D., and Leona Sewing.

Farewell and God Bless to Pastor Wisher, Anita, and Sam. They are leaving Whitewater to do other “church planting.” Before that they will go to South Carolina to greet their new grandson (Connie’s son.) The Wishers will be missed in Whitewater and good luck to them.

Whitewater Baptist Church now welcomes Alyssa Bergus to replace the Wishers. Welcome to Whitewater. Whitewater Baptist Church meets Sundays at 3 p.m. and Wednesdays at 6 p.m.

Whitewater Lutheran Church meets every Sunday at 11:15 a.m. with Pastor Bob Nagy. He also comes most Wednesday afternoons to visit the school, the senior meal folks at North 40, and others. Now there is a confirmation class at church, too.

School in Whitewater is in full swing. Congratulations to our Penguin, Maverick, and Mustang athletes. Good games!

In the Whitewater area and most of the county, many farmers are still harvesting. It has been too wet to combine, since we had so much rain and now snow as of last weekend. Good luck to all farmers who are harvesting.

Lu Besel went to Iowa to visit.

Jeanie Green went to Great Falls, Mont., for appointments.

The weather had been beautiful, but this past weekend saw wintery conditions. Everything is still very green, so hopefully we have a fall season before winter takes over.

Have a good week.

Helen A.
