One Nation, Under God

A big thanks to HLRC

Dear Editor,

At the Hi-Line Retirement Home, we recently had National Nursing Home Week. We wanted to send a letter of appreciation for the staff. The staff does more than anyone will ever know. The staff, from the CEO down through all the departments, work not just because it is their job, but because they care about the residents. Their commitment is shown by them almost running through their 12-hour shift to answer lights or give a wheelchair a push. During National Nursing Home week the meals and costumes and themes were wonderful! Some of the activities we had were inspirational meetings, historical readings, and lots of fun games. (Dee Haney won the egg and spoon race and Joan Christofferson won the "Identify the resident's baby pictures". We have also been fortunate to have a Chaplain's corner on the TV screen for our enjoyment and were able to view a family funeral online

While we have been locked down because of COVID-19, we have had care above and beyond. The staff is as cheerful at the end of the shift as they were at the beginning! We have even had a "modified" family time. Tic-tac-toe on the window! I, (Lois Bruckner), dream of the day when I begin getting my daily hug from Glenn!

As a family member of a former resident, (Mary Mangis), I agree with Lois. During the time, our father (Ned Mangis) was a resident he experienced wonderful care! He (and all the family) grew to love the staff. Such a "personable bunch!

Mary Mangis
