One Nation, Under God

More local authors and local books at the PC Museum

History is alive through the stories of local authors at the Phillips County Museum. The Museum is proud to offer several titles from the many talented authors that live and have lived in our area.

Two local children’s authors have best-selling books that tell of local life. “Prairie Sunrise” is a story of a young girl’s Montana ranch life. The book’s illustrations are real photos that were taken during the four seasons of the ranch and portray the activities that keep the young girl busy. It was written by Sierra Dawn Stoneberg Holt.

The second children’s author is Scott Haynes. “Roadie the Ranch Dog” is a series of books told by Roadie as he romps and plays through life.

In addition the PC Museum hosts 10 local adult authors. B.J. Daniels writes contemporary romance novels that have ties to the Phillips County area and the people who live here. Helen Depuydt’s “Montana Memoirs” is fun filled stories of our local area. Billie Lou Barnard Arnott’s “Montana Homestead Reflections and Recipes” is a one of a kind cookbook. Anna Guttormsen tells life as a Homesteader in Phillips County in her book “Anna”. Richard Woods tells tales that make your skin crawl in his “Montanan’s Talk Rattlesnakes” and many of these tales come from our local men and women. In addition we have several books that tell the Kid Curry Story and the mining stories of Landusky and Zortman. These would include “Growing Up in Kid Curry Country” by Viola Booth Beyer, “Top of the Mountain” by Gladys Costello, and Gary Wilsons “Kid Curry” book. And last but not least we have Floyd Hardins book “Campfires and Cowchips”. Floyd is family to Kay Hould PCHS President and David Rummel Chairman of the PC Museum Board.
