P.C. Tracksters attend Norm Girard Top Ten

The Malta, Saco, and Whitewater track teams were each represented at the 2022 Norm Girard North/East Top Ten Memorial in Glasgow last Tuesday, May 3.

M-ETTES

"I am really pleased with how they competed," Malta Head Coach Kaitlyn Smith said about the Malta boys and girls track teams. "Had a couple new personal records along with pre-qualifiers for state!"

Senior Justine Lamb led the M-ettes with a first place finish in high jump after clearing 5-0. Lamb tied with Plentywood's Audrey Sampsen in the event. Lamb was sixth in shot put with a personal best of 33-0.50 seventh in the 100 hurdles with a season's best of 17.70 seconds.

"Justine tied her PR from last year and qualified for state so that is exciting to see," Coach Smith said.

Senior Skylie Lefdahl took second place in discus with a season record of 109-11.

"Skylie came out with a great throw that also got her to pre-qualify for state in the discus," Coach Smith said. "I am excited to see her continue the next couple of weeks and see what she has in store."

Sophomore Gracie Honey was sixth in the 800 with a season's best of 2:35.38.

The short relay and long relay teams finished seventh in their respective races.

The long relay team consisting of junior Kira Beck, sophomore Addison Ulrich, Honey, and junior Allison Kunze posted a time of 4:32.14. The short relay team consisting of Ulrich, Lamb, Kunze, and junior Madison Williamson had a time of 55.38.

Sophomore Giona Lamb finished seventh in javelin with a personal best of 101-11 and seventh in shot put with a throw of 32-11.50.

Williamson was eighth in triple jump with a personal best of 32-09.50.

MUSTANGS

The Mustangs were led by senior David Pitman who had a personal best of 47-04 in his first place finish in shot put.

"The boys have been throwing pretty consistently so we love to see that," Coach Smith said. "David has been gradually adding distances and we see that because he pre-qualified in shot and disc Tuesday. They are taking the right steps going forward with districts two weeks away."

Pitman took second in discus with a season's best of 144-01. He was also sixth in javelin with a posted throw of 140-02.

Senior Cash Salsbery was second in shot put with a throw of 46-07. Salsbery was also third in discus with a throw of 141-00.

Kyle Darrington was fourth in the 200 with a personal best of 24.05. He was also fourth in the 400 with a time of 54.84.

"He is obviously quick and it is exciting to see him compete strongly against top competitors," Coach Smith said of Darrington

Connor Tuss was fifth in javelin with a throw of 143-01 and ninth in high jump by clearing 5-4. Ivan Lefdahl also cleared 5-4 in high jump but placed eleventh.

Jon Siewing took sixth place in the 1600 with a personal best of 5:14.38.

Seth Siewing was eighth in the 1600 with a time of 5:17.97.

The short relay consisting of Salsbery, Darrington, S. Siewing, and Gavin Slade took eighth with a time of 48.20.

SACO

The Saco Track teams were led by sophomore Teagan Erickson who took first place in long jump with a personal best of 17-03 and first in triple jump with a mark left at 35-05.50.

Sophomore Josie Brown took third place in the 200 with a personal best of 27.01 and third in the 100 with a time of 13.79.

Senior Jaycee Erickson took third place in pole vault by clearing 8-6 and fourth in javelin with a throw of 111-6.

Blaine Downing was the team's lone boy competitor that day. He took fifth in pole vault with a personal best of 12-0.

WHITEWATER

The Lady Penguins track team was led by Paige Wasson who won the javelin event with a throw of 119-10.

Wasson also took seventh in the 400 with a personal best of 1:04.48 and ninth in triple jump with a mark left at 30-6.

Freshman Shelbi LaBrie was second in the 1600 with a personal best of 5:32.64.

Junior Samantha Wisher was fifth in the 1600 with a new best of 5:46.46. She was also seventh in the 3200 with a time of 13:11.55.

Sophomore Kendall Scheffelmear was fifth in triple jump with a personal best of 33-2.50. Scheffelmear was also twelfth in high jump after clearing 4-4.

The long relay consisting of Kora LaBrie, Scheffelmear, S. LaBrie, and Wasson took fifth with a time of 4:25.62.
