First State Bank's 20th Annual Car Show

A perfect day was the way many described Saturday, June 4. The weather was in the mid-70s, with good food, good music, and the number of entries in the car show that brought the numbers back to where they were pre-Covid.

"It was a great day for the 20th Annual FSB Car Show," said show organizer Terry Skones. "We've had a great turnout today. Thanks to everyone for coming out and having a good day with us."

With 90 vehicles entered into the show, vendors in the park, and businesses having sidewalk sales, there were plenty of things to do for the large number of people that ventured out to downtown Malta.

At 2 p.m. the voting stopped and the awards were handed out.

The People's Choice Car Award winner was Britney Thornton from Lewistown and her 2011 M & M Dragster. The People's Choice Tractor went to James Waters of Malta with his 1952 John Deere Tractor, People's Choice Motorcycle went to Dale Kaasa of Malta, and his 1986 Honda v65 Magnum.

"It's a great surprise," said Britney Thornton. "I am shocked, but it's great to get a dragster voted as the people's choice."

The Longest Distance Traveled Award went to Shaun Carnahan from Bozeman.

The Darryl Seeley Memorial Pickup Award went to Von Holzhey of Malta and his 1966 Chevy Pickup.

The judged Top 6 award winners were Sam and Julia Owens of Malta with their 1959 Cadillac, Bob Dungan of Glasgow and his 1957 T-bird, Rick Starkey of Malta and his 1970 Buick 6s, Dylan Bergos of Malta and his 1933 Ford Factory 5, Britney Thornton of Lewistown and her 2011 M & M Dragster, and John Nesbitt of Glasgow and his 1956 Willy's.

"What a great day," said last year's People's Choice winner Dennis Beebe. "There's a lot of people here. A good number of cars. It's good to have the border open so our Canadian friends can come back and join us."

Skones echoed Beebe's statement. "With the border open, we are back to the types of numbers that we were getting before Covid happened. There are a lot of people here today. It has been a great day to be in downtown Malta."
