M-ettes host Summer Basketball Camp

The Malta M-ettes basketball team hosted their annual Little M-ette Basketball Camp last week.

The camp hosted 32 girls from third grade to eighth grade. The M-ette High School team helped out at the event.

"There are some competitive younger kids coming in and we had some good, spirited competition, training, and they were an eager bunch of young kids," M-ette Head Coach Nate Hammond said.

The camp started on Monday, June 20, and concluded on Wednesday, June 22, at the Malta High School Gymnasium. Camp went on from 9 a.m. to noon.

"We spent quite a bit of time with fundamental stuff," Coach Hammond said. "We did some individual stations and we had a fair amount of competition."

The camp favorites included 1-on-1, 5-on-5, and hot shot.

1-on-1 Champions were: 3rd/4th-Hennessy Williamson, 5th/6th- Hadley Hammond, and 7th/8th- Emerson Downing.

Free Throw Champions were: 3rd/4th- Hennessy Williamson, 5th/6th- Hadley Hammond, and 7th/8th- Emerson Downing.

Hot Shot Champions were: 3rd/4th- Leila Oxarart, 5th/6th- Miracle Love, and 7th/8th- Emma Ereaux.

Helping lead camp were Assistant Head Coach Shane Anderson, Arena Neibur, Addy Anderson, Aubri Werk, Allison Kunze, Kennedy Koss, and Maddie Williamson.

The High School M-ettes have been busy playing in tournaments around the state, including the 11th Annual Malta Summer Shootout. The junior-senior team went 4-0 and the freshman-sophomore team went 3-1.

"Eveyone did good and we are happy," Coach Hammond said.
