Museum of the Rockies Portable StarLab to Visit Malta Kids Club

Malta Kids Club is blasting through space this summer with “Out of this World” fun activities from 1:00 p.m. to 5:00 p.m. Mondays through Thursdays.

Members of Malta Kids Club have been busy with 1st LEGO League Robotics projects and Star Gazer Theatre Camp in the mornings during the month of July. Plans are to host a Summer Showcase sometime at the end of the program with times and dates to be announced at a later time.

“Another exciting part of our outerspace programming this summer is the Museum of the Rockies Portable StarLab that we have rented for July 11th-21st,” stated Club Director, Sonia Young. “Kids enrolled in the Summer Program will experience the night sky inside our building and learn about the Milky Way Starfield, Native American Constellations, Greek Mythology, and the Constellations.” A Family Fun StarLab Night is planned at the Club for Tuesday, July 19th, from 6:00 p.m. – 7:00 p.m. with an Ice Cream Sundae Social to follow, sponsored by the Malta Kiwanis Club.

Malta Kids Club is a high-quality afterschool and summer program under the non-profit status of the Phillips County Coalition for Healthy Choices. The program is funded by a Montana OPI 21st Century Community Learning Center grant. Board of Directors include Randy Domire, Jacy Stolem, Carmen Norville, Troy Hansen, Kelly Cederberg, and Bridgette Kluck. Summer Program staff are Carol L. Smith (Executive Director), Sonia Young (Club Director), Elaine Stannebein and Giona Lamb (Education Center), Gina Lamb (Front Desk/Data Entry), Hope Anderson (Teen Center), Karen Ellsworth and Tia Siewing (Arts & Crafts), Izzie Hallenberg and Carly Garfield (Games & Recreation Center), Hannah Lane (STEM and SEL Center), and volunteer Kaycee Bond.

Youth ages 5 to 18 and enrolled in the 2022-2023 school year are welcome to join Malta Kids Club. Membership is free and forms are available on our Facebook page or at our front desk.
