One Nation, Under God

Why Can't We Get Anything Done?

Dear Editor,

I am writing in regard to the pipeline from Canada to Texas.

All the land owners along it went to Glendive in about 2010. That day, all agreed it should be built and was being paid for by Canada, 100%.

It included off ramps for U.S.A. oil to be picked up.

Also, Big Flat Electric and other power companies were to build power lines. The materials, poles, etc., plus money for right away, some of which Big Flat bought. All is in storage or laid out along all of the right aways. Canada paid all.

The Northern Border gas line was built to Chicago in 8-and-a-half months, and it runs about the same track as Keystone.

Why can’t we in 2022, 12 years later, get anything done?

Eminent domain is a good thing. We wouldn’t have roads, power, telephone, pipelines, or a lot of other things if we didn’t have it.

I went on a tour of Saint Mary’s Milk River Irrigation and they started to decide on it in 1905, and in 1907 or 1908 it was complete to Vandalia Dam at Hinsdale. It was put in with horses and the will to get it done.

It seems that the people that do the most belly-aching don’t know that we have pump lines all over the place already.

Jim Hill’s railroad from the 1800’s can’t be expected to carry oil.

Well, when they put in the Northern Border, they told us it could run water from Canada if need be and they do have the water.

Take notes folks and pray for rain.

Good Bless and take care,

Sally Austin
