Lady Mavs Now 7-0 Before Break

North Country and Dodson meet in Whitewater

The North Country Lady Mavericks are headed into the Winter Break with a 7-0 record, after adding three wins to their total last weekend, including one win over Dodson last Friday.

The Lady Mavericks defeated the Nashua Lady Porcupines 61-11 in Hinsdale last Thursday, December 15. The team then defeated the Dodson Lady Coyotes 60-12 on Friday, December 16, in Whitewater. Their final game of 2022 was played in Circle against the Wildcats and the Mavericks won 54-31 on Saturday, December 17.

"The girls are playing well but still have plenty of things they can improve on and will work on over the break so that they can be ready to continue to roll into the second half of our season," North Country Head Coach Amber Erickson said. "They are a fun group to coach and watch and they are having a blast playing the game they love."

Dodson would lose to Scobey on Saturday, December 17. The score was 50-28

In North Country's game against Nashua, Teagan Erickson led with 16 points, six rebounds, four assists, and two blocks.

T. Erickson was asked what has been the key to their hot start in this year's campaign.

"Working really hard in practice," she said. "We all push each other really hard and it helps us get better in games and we are really a team-first kind of team. We are always looking for the extra pass. No one is selfish and I think that is a huge part of our success."

Paige Wasson had nine points and four rebounds. Kora LaBrie had seven points, two assists, and five steals. Sammie Wisher had seven points.

The Mavericks had 20 steals as a team against Nashua, 13 assists, and nine turnovers.

In North Country's win over Dodson, T. Erickson had 21 points, six rebounds, four assists, and two blocks. Wasson had 10 points, four assists and two blocks. Josie Brown had eight points.

Lilyian Turnsplenty led the Lady Coyotes with six points. Linsdey Fetter and Kataya each had three points.

In Dodson's loss to Scobey, K. KillEagle had a game-high 18 points. Fetter had six points and Jamie Campbell had two points.

That same night, Wasson led the Lady Mavericks against Circle, with 16 points, five rebounds, and two steals. T. Erickson had eight points, 10 rebounds, and three blocks. Mattea McColly had nine points. Kendall Scheffelmear had seven points, seven rebounds, three steals, and two assists.
