Harvey W. Smith (September 10, 1929- January 24, 2023)

Harvey W. Smith, 93, a retired farmer passed away on Tuesday, January 24, 2023, at the Valley View Nursing Home in Glasgow, MT, of natural causes.

Harvey was born on September 10, 1929, to William John "Jack" and Edna Fry Smith. He was raised on his parent's farm south of Dodson with his two brothers Howard and Franklin. After, graduating from Dodson High School in 1948 he joined the Army for three years during the Korean War.

After, returning he married Mary D. Smith from Malta on May 26, 1956. Together they bought the "Roy Lee Place" outside of Dodson. While in Dodson they had two children, John and Lenora. In 1972 they sold the "Mud Farm" and purchased a wheat farm 35 miles south of Malta. This is where Harvey and Mary worked side by side together until they retired and started living full-time in Malta. In his retirement he spent many hours restoring John Deere Tractors, his favorite being the John Deere D.

Harvey was preceded in death by his parents and his two brothers Howard and Franklin.

Harvey is survived by his wife Mary of 66 years, son John (Robin) Smith, daughter Lenora (Dave) McEwen, grandchildren Forrest McEwen of Sunburst, Johna McEwen of Great Falls, Mary Belle Kinkaid of Great Falls, and Hunter Losleben of Denver, niece Deanna (Mark) Arnold from Malta, and nephews Larry (Michelle) Smith from Malta and Greg (Julia) Smith from Lincoln.

A Memorial service will be held on February 4, 2023, at 1 pm at the Wilderness Funeral Home in Malta. Following the service, there will be coffee and cookies at The Little White Church.
