Over 300 Grapplers "Cover the Court" at Last Sunday's Malta AAU Meet at MHS

The Malta Mustang Wrestling Club hosted the 2022 Cover the Court AAU wrestling meet last Sunday, January 29, at the Malta High School Gymnasium.

In all, the event featured 324 wrestlers representing 13 teams from Montana and North Dakota. Malta had a total of 76 wrestlers. The event also served as a fundraiser for Malta's AAU Club and raised $11,500.

According to an email from the club, in the 2022 year, the AAU wrestling event has helped fund brand new wrestling mats for the wrestling center, mats for the Old Armory, new warmups for Malta's middle school wrestlers, singlets for AAU wrestlers (MWC is one of the only clubs in the state to be able to provide singlets at no cost to their wrestlers), the club provides a cooler of food and drink for Malta's High School Wrestlers all season long, and the club pays for all tournament entry fees for every Malta AAU wrestler in all the tournaments throughout the year.

"Our Malta wrestling weekend is so successful and runs smoothly because of the large group of wrestling parents and past parents and grandparents of Malta's wrestling community that is willing to donate their time to help our wrestling team and youth," said Becca Spencer of the Malta Mustang Wrestling Club.

The Mustang Wrestling Club will head to Williston next weekend and possibly Plentywood.
