DODSON Track 2023

Dodson is Ready to Aim For State

The Dodson Track Team will have only one girl, but 10 boys to kick off the 2023 season.

The lone girl is senior Emma Cole, who has competed for Dodson for the past two seasons.

The team also welcomes back Sebastian Best, their lone competitor at the 2022 Eastern C Divisional, but Dodson Head Coach Tianna Bloomer believes that more could make the divisional meet and beyond in 2023.

"I see us having quite a few more doing that this year," Coach Bloomer said. "The sophomore boys are stepping up and have a chance of having a mean relay. This is a talented group of kids. If they can keep the academics up we should be taking some to state."

When asked if anyone specifically has stood out, she said that it is hard to judge without seeing them perform on a track.

"I do have a high jumper who is going to do some damage. Javelin is going to happen for a couple this year too. So that is exciting."

In addition to E. Cole and Best, the Coyotes welcome back a strong sophomore class consisting of Jeremiah Henry who will do jumping events, Mason LoneBear who is a jumper and thrower, Dylan Kinney, a thrower, Chaske Cliff who runs long distance, and Titus Web who jumps and runs long distance.

The freshmen class consists of Lance Snow who runs long distance and Frank Sonny Cole who will throw.

The coaching staff consists of Skip Cole, who will coach jumping and Adrianna Bibeau, who will be the throw coach and workout planning coach.

The team hasn't discussed goals so far this season and are waiting until they can practice outside to see where they are, according to Coach Bloomer.

Coach Bloomer said that the first two weeks of practice consisted of mostly strength and core training.

"We were able to bring the high jump into the gym," Coach Bloomer said. "Our soft shot put and discs have also been helpful. We have two very nice treadmills that our runners have been able to use as well. It worked out pretty well. JH started last week and that tripled our numbers so now it is a bit crowded. We plan to use the outside as soon as possible even if it is just the road."
