Anderson Signs to Play Basketball at DSU

Malta High School senior and M-ette basketball standout Addy Anderson signed a letter of intent to continue her basketball career at Dickinson State University last Tuesday, April 18, as friends and family watched at MHS.

During her years at Malta, Anderson helped the M-ettes win the Northern B Divisional Title for four seasons in a row as a shooting guard.

Anderson is the daughter of Shane and Jenifer Anderson of Malta.

The PCN caught up with Anderson and DSU Women's Basketball Head Coach Eric Nelson who was at the event.

"First of all, when you are getting a coach's kid, you know that you are getting a good person who understands basketball, has a good IQ, and obviously she is a good scorer, her numbers were good and she comes from a good program," Coach Nelson said. "So anytime that you can add all of those things up and you know that you are getting a good kid, from a good family, it makes your life easier and it's a lot easier to recruit."

After seeing tape on a couple of M-ette players, Coach Nelson began the recruitment process, and then Anderson visited the campus a few weeks ago.

"I visited the campus, went to an open gym, and I just really liked it," Anderson said.

She was asked what she liked about the campus.

"I liked how it wasn't too big but it wasn't small," Anderson said. "It was the perfect size and the buildings were really cool."

She believes that she will be playing shooting guard, a position that she played in high school.

She was asked what her favorite memory of being an M-ette basketball player was.

"My favorite part was how we won divisionals four years in a row," Anderson said. "I think that is really cool and something to be proud of."

She was asked what it meant to her to be an M-ette.

"Learning how to be a good person because we do a lot of stuff outside of just sports," Anderson said. "Also, learning how to be a good teammate."
