One Nation, Under God

Farmers and Ranchers Celebrate 76 Years

One could not have asked for a more pleasant day to say "thank you" to their customers, and Co-Manager Cohen Ereaux and "the Boys" did a fine job last Friday. The smell of freshly grilled hamburgers, grilled onions and hot dogs brought a nice crowd to the Farmers and Ranchers Lumber Company as they prepared some of the finest burgers with ease. Count them...400 burgers!

Now serving customers in their 76th year of business, Farmers and Ranchers might be the longest continuing storefront business in Malta.

With the assistance of the Volunteer Fire Department, burgers were cooked fresh and served hot by sharply attired men in classy white t-shirts and aprons. Lending their expertise were Josh Newman and Mike Flatt, old hands at being organized and making things run smooth.

"The customers reactions were awesome! We handed out door prizes to Oliver Bessman, Liam Starkey, Lynette Ereaux, Tyrel Rummel, Lois Waters, Gary Tremblay and Julie Moore," said Cohen.

Tables were set up in the east outside bay and also indoors to accommodate the crowd. The lunch met with the approval of several "professionals" who have tasted their fair share of complimentary lunches.

Cohen added, "Overall, it was great to see the community out and give us a chance to give back to the community that has been very supportive over the past 75 years."

"Danny Paul (Shores) and I would like to give recognition to all past, present and future employees, along with the customers who have supported us through the years. We look forward to seeing you at the 100th anniversary!"

Those who had pull with the weatherman also did a fine job of holding off on the rain to allow guests to eat.
