Malta Swim Team Represented by Norville Sisters in Scobey

The Malta Swim Team was represented by a trio of sisters last weekend at the Scobey Invitational, an event that started on Saturday, June 17 and concluded on Sunday, June 18.

"They actually did pretty good for their first meet (of the season)," Malta Swim Team Head Coach Darrow Messerly said. "It was their first time in a pool for a while because they have been busy with 4H, camp, and whatever else. This was a test run for them but they did pretty good."

The team will head south to Roundup next weekend. Coach Messerly was asked about the Roundup meet.

"They usually run a pretty good meet," Messerly said. "I think that there will be quite a few kids because it is one of the more central locations for the year. I think it will give us a good look at who we are going to see at divisionals."

Coach Messerly believes that the team will have more swimmers present.

At the Scobey meet, ten-year-old Ellie Norville led the team, placing ninth in the Girls 9-10 50 Meter Backstroke finals with a time of 1:06.61. She qualified for the finals with a time of 1:09.30.

She was thirteenth in the 50 Meter Freestyle with a time of 57.45.

Eight-year-old Aubrie Norville placed eleventh in the Girls Eight and Under 25 Meter Freestyle finals with a time of 28.41. She was also eleventh in the preliminary round with a time of 27.59.

Aubrie was also thirteenth in the 25 Meter Backstroke with a time of 36.59.

Five-year-old Cecelie Norville competed in the Girls Eight and Under 25 Meter Freestyle and placed 29th with a time of 1:25.72.
