One Nation, Under God

I Won Against the First Round of Jet Lag...

When we landed in Sweden during our family vacation, I felt like a champion!

I couldn’t really fall asleep on the plane because of a screaming kid somewhere near us. I can only imagine traveling with a toddler and I definitely have sympathy, but it was hard to catch Zs despite our flight being an overnight event.

Susan and the boys handled the flight over the Atlantic Ocean very well, thanks in part to the huge catalog of movies available to us. They had over 150 movie options and 150 tv shows and the boys were in cloud 9, while in the clouds.

While unable to sleep, I watched screens of other passengers in an attempt to slowly doze off because my screen was too bright. I saw that a lady a row ahead of us was watching a nature documentary. I watched for a while to figure out the show and eventually found out that it was Green Planet. I put the show on my screen and thanks to the soothing voice of David Attenborough and the sounds of nature, I finally slept for about three hours.

After landing in Germany, which had a lot of smoke in their atmosphere due to the fire in Canada (I believe), things initially were smooth. We were able to enter the country with no problems, but we eventually found a major problem. Our flight that we booked almost a year ago did not exist!

We were in a pickle, thankfully many at the airport knew English. After a couple of hours, a lady named Maanya (I think) was able to contact United Airlines to get us on the next flight to Gothenburg, Sweden.

We had arrived four hours later than expected, but we were wide awake!

I have to admit that in those first hours I felt like a champion because I was able to sleep for six hours on our first night and felt normal! Jet Lag had not taken a hold of me. The way back was a story that I will save for another day!
