Phillips County Motorsports Holds Third Race Weekend

Phillips County Motorsports held their third racing weekend despite the smoky haze hovering over the skies from fires burning in Canada.

The track hosted their Montana Drag Racers Association race, which drew around 75 participants.

Though there were two days of racing, results for Saturday's race were available at the time of print. Sunday's race will be printed when available.

Nick Westburg of Billings won the Box Super Pro class on Saturday with a elapsed time of 6.6740 seconds in the finals. He had a dial in time of 6.67, reaction time of .0349, and top speed of 102 miles per hour. Gary Stoppel, also of Billings, was runner-up in the Box Super Pro class with a elapsed time of 7.6813, dial in of 6.37, reaction time of -0.221, and a top speed of 56.05 mph.

The No Box Pro class was won by Stacey Klungland of Havre. Klungland posted a time of 7.1341 in the finals, a dial in time of 7.09, reaction time of .0287, and top speed of 92.94. Randy Neset of Tioga, N.D., was runner up with a time of 7.0353, dial in time of 6.91, reaction time of .0857, and top speed of 97.36.

The Sportsman Class was won by Kent Johnson of Rexburg, Idaho. Johnson had a time of 7.9010 in the finals, dial in time of 7.86, reaction time of .0170, and top speed of 84.92. Kyler Horob of Williston, N.D. was runner up with a time of 9.0390, a dial in time of 9.06, reaction time of .0561, and top speed of 73.63.

The Junior Dragster class was won by Keylee McCarthy of Acton, Mont. McCarthy had a time of 8.0008, dial in time of 7.93, reaction time of .0896, and top speed of 75.41 mph. Ansley Enget of Tioga was runner up with a time of 9.7879, dial in of 9.70, reaction time of .3463, and top speed of 63.42.

Keylee McCarthy also won the Junior Dragster event on Sunday. Kody Tadday won Sunday's Sportsman event, Stacey Klungland won the Pro Class, sweeping the event, and Williston's John Enno won Sunday's Box Super Pro event.

The next drag racing event for the Hi-Line Dragstrip is scheduled to take place on Labor Day Weekend. The weekend will start on Saturday, September 2, continue on Sunday, September 3, and will conclude on Monday, September 4. Monday's race will be the Iron Man Race and Last Points Race of the season.
