Swimmers Heading to Divisional Meet in Chinook This Weekend

The Malta Swim team was represented by a pair of sisters in Glendive this weekend.

Malta Swim Team will be heading to the Montana Federation of Swimmers Eastern Divisional Meet in Chinook this weekend. The meet starts on Saturday, July 22 and concludes on Sunday, July 23.

Coach Darrow Messerly, who was in Glendive with his team, expressed pride in his young swimmers.

"I'm extremely proud of the girls that went down there," Coach Messerly said. "All four of the girls are either first or second year swimmers and you can definitely see the improvement they're making from meet to meet as they've cut so much time off previous PRs."

The Glendive Meet started on Saturday, July 15, and ended on Sunday, July 16.

Malta was led by Mariah Hould who competed in the Girls 9-10 Division. She scored 10 points. She was eighth in the 50 Meter Freestyle with a time of 47.05 seconds in the finals and 51.44 in the prelims. She was also eighth in the 100 Meter Free with a time of 1:58.61 in the finals and 2:09.27 in the prelims. She was fifteenth in the 50 Meter Backstroke.

Erin Solberg scored six points in the Girls 9-10 Division. She was ninth in the 100 Meter Freestyle with a time of 2:05.65 and a time of 2:15.47 in the prelims. Erin was also 11th in the 50 Meter Backstroke with a time of 1:08.12 in the finals and 1:05.21 in the prelims.

She placed 16th in the 50 Meter Freestyle with a time of 56.63.

Haidyn Hould competed in the Girls 9-10 Division and had a time of 1:13.90 in the 50 Meter Freestyle and a time of 1:28.68 in the 50 Meter Backstroke. She was 25th overall in both events.

Emma Solberg competed in the Eight and under Division. She had a time of 39.19 (26th place) in the 25 Meter Freestyle. She had a time of 1:38.54 (26th place) in the 50 Meter Freestyle and had a time of 47.41 (30th place) in the 25 Meter Backstroke.
