9th Annual Marian Hills Open and 2nd Youth Tournament

In addition to their Mens' and Womens' Golf Leagues, Marian Hills Golf Course has been busy over the last couple of weekends.

The nine-hole course located just south of Malta, hosted the 2023 Marian Hills Open Golf Tournament on Saturday, July 29 and Sunday, July 30.

According to the club, the tournament was a success.

"One hundred eight great golfers spent two days demonstrating their golfing expertise," Marian Hills said per a press release. "They came from all over the state, area and especially Malta. They (and their families) used our hotels, convenience stores, restaurants, clothing store, museums, and various other stores."

The 4-Person Scramble awarded several teams on Sunday afternoon. First Place Net winners were Matt Schriver, Brock Schriver, Easton Copenhaver, and Lafon Copenhaver. First Place Gross winners were Ernie Hill, Parker Dire, Tyler Reisenauer, and Jaret Lee.

Marian Hills Golf Course also hosted the Marian Hills Youth Golf League's 2nd Annual Youth Golf Tournament on Friday, August 11.

The Youth Golf Tournament was supervised by coaches Kate and Gordon Webb. A total of 24 youths competed in the event.

"It went very well," Kate Webb said. "Every year our kids who continue to come out and participate in our summer events just keep improving, and we are seeing so many out on their own taking up the opportunity to play our amazing course."

She said that this year's group got through the nine-hole course faster than she had seen in previous years.

"This tells me our kids are learning the rules/etiquette/processes of golf better and better every year," Webb said. "These are things we hope to instill in our kids to prepare them before they come up to compete at the high school level, so I feel many of these kids have shown us they are capable or very close to it. I'm so proud of the improvements they have made even just this year, and they came out and had a great day! It's fun to see the results of all their hard work this summer."

Kate then shouted out to the team at Marian Hills Golf Course.

"We could not have made this program and these events happen without the support of Jane, Cory, and Marian Hills Golf Course," she said. "We are fortunate and grateful for everyone in our community who supports our youth and events. Gordon and I enjoy putting in the time with the kids to help them learn and grow in the game of golf."
