Lady Mavericks Defeat Dodson, Frazer

The North Country Lady Mavericks and Dodson Coyotes squared off in a packed Coyote Den last Saturday, December 16.

The Mavericks won the matchup 72-17. North Country also defeated the Frazer Lady Bearcubs 70-20 on Friday, December 16.

Dodson lost their Friday night match to Scobey 52-15.

The Mavericks were scheduled to go to Turner on Tuesday, December 19, to face the Tornadoes at 5:30 p.m. Information on that game will be in next week's paper. North Country will host the Circle Wildcats in Hinsdale on Thursday, December 21, at 6 p.m.

The Lady Coyotes are set to host the Nashua Porcupines on Tuesday at 5:30 P.M. They will then travel to Harlem to face the Wildcats JV team on Thursday.

In North Country's win over Dodson, the Lady Mavericks turned Dodson's 27 turnovers into 37 points. North Country also outscored Dodson 37-2 in the paint.

Paige Wasson led North Country offensively with 22 points, three steals, and two assists. Wasson was five-of-nine from the three point line. Teagan Erickson had 13 points, eight rebounds, six assists, and three steals. BaiLee McColly McColly had 10 points and two steals. Berkley Hillman had eight points, five rebounds, and two steals. Shelbi LaBrie had six points, four assists, four steals, and three offensive rebounds.

For Dodson, Kataya KillEagle had seven points and four steals. Jazlyn KillEagle had three points, Lily Turnsplenty had two points, Kyra Campbell had two points, Kaston Siers had two points, and Amara Cochran had one point.

North Country led wire-to-wire, outscoring Dodson 25-11 in the first quarter, 21-3 in the second quarter, and 26-3 in the second half.

North Country also defeated Frazer handily, outscoring the Lady Bearcubs 24-8 in the first quarter, 17-2 in the second quarter, 23-8 in the third quarter, and 6-2 in the fourth quarter.

The Mavericks scored 62 points in the paint and forced 28 turnovers.

Wasson led the Mavs offensively with 17 points, seven rebounds, seven steals, and four assists. Erickson had 13 points, five rebounds, three assists and two steals. Kendall Scheffelmear has 13 points and six assists.

In Dodson's loss to Scobey, K. KillEagle had six points, 12 rebounds, and four steals. J. KillEagle had two points, Baylee Johnson had two points, Siers had two points, and Cochran had one point and four rebounds.
