Lady Coyotes Pick Up Two Wins

The Dodson Lady Coyotes basketball team is heading into Christmas break on a two-game win-streak after picking up wins over the Nashua Lady Porcupines and the Harlem Ladycats JV last week.

The Lady Coyotes defeated Nashua 56-14 in Dodson on Tuesday, December 19, and Harlem JV 68-64 in Harlem on Thursday, December 20.

Senior Kataya KillEagle had a 40-point, 15-rebound double-double in Dodson's win over Harlem. She knocked down six treys and was 14-of-21 at the charity stripe. They also had three steals and two assists. Jazlyn KillEagle had eight points and three steals. Precious Stiffarm and Amara Cochran both had six points and eight rebounds. Kashton Siers had five points, and Lily Turnsplenty had three points, four rebounds, and three steals.

Dodson trailed for most of the game thanks to Harlem's 23-11 run in the first quarter. The Wildcats also outscored Dodson 19-17 in the second quarter. Dodson outscored Harlem 26-10 in the third quarter.

Dodson took the lead late in the third quarter after Siers grabbed an offensive rebound and put up a layup. She was fouled on the play and then converted the and-one free throw.

Dodson scored 14 points in the fourth quarter and held Harlem to 12 points.

The Lady Coyotes will observe Christmas break and will not see their next opponent until their game against the Lustre Christian Lady Lions on Friday, January 5, in Lustre. Dodson will also travel to Frazer for their second match against the Lady Bearcubs on Saturday, January 6. Both events are slated to start with a Boys' JV game at 4:30 p.m., followed by Girls' Varsity at 6 p.m., and Boys' Varsity at 7:30 p.m.

In Dodson's win over the Lady Porcupines, Kataya KillEagle led the Lady Coyotes with a 22-point, 12-rebound double-double. KillEagle also had five assists and four steals.

J. KillEagle had nine points, four steals, and three assists. Cochran had nine points, eight rebounds, and three steals. Siers had eight points, six rebounds, and six steals. Baylee Johnson had six points and six rebounds. Stiffarm had two points and four rebounds. Kyra Campbell had four steals.

Dodson forced 36 turnovers and had 22 steals. The Lady Coyotes scored 38 points in the paint while holding Nashua to eight.

The Lady Coyotes led wire to wire, outscoring Nashua in each quarter. 9-6 in the first quarter, 16-2, in the second quarter, 13-3 in the third quarter, and 18-3 in the fourth quarter.
