One Nation, Under God

Vacation and Vitamins Made a Difference

This was a weird year.

I loved a lot of things about 2023. My favorite thing was taking intentional time with my family.

Earlier this year, we took our longest vacation in terms of time and distance away from home. We went to see my brother-in-law Sam Fauth, his wife Mirjam, and their children Noah, Livia, and Sofia.

It was awesome experiencing a culture different from ours. It was a trip that our family will never forget. We will also never forget getting stuck at the airport in Denver and taking a road trip from Denver to Malta after our long trip to Sweden.

Getting our passports and experiencing Canada has been a blast. We went to Medicine Hat four times this past year. The distance is about 220 miles away, so we liken it to a trip to Billings. It always seems so refreshing and relaxing, even if it’s only an overnight trip.

These trips to other countries also have me concerned about the things I consume. I did not start a healthy lifestyle in 2023, but 2024 will be different. It needs to happen.

I have already started a vitamin regimen. For years, I have heard that living up north contributes to a Vitamin D deficiency. I have been taking vitamin D and Vitamin B12 for about a month now, and I think that it is helping with my seasonal depression.

I am no expert or medical professional, but my mood has definitely improved. My mood this winter has also improved because it has been so mild outside! This winter has been a true delight.

Though it has been wonderful outside, I am not betting on it staying this nice. I am sure February will be a beast.

Speaking of February, my mother, whose birthday is in February, came to Malta. We were able to take her north to experience Medicine Hat. She has been through a lot but it was good to see her.

Both of my boys are at Malta Elementary this year. They are both doing well and Susan and I are proud of them.

The coffee business has been busy and has been a blessing.

I hope it was a good year for you and yours, and if not, here is to 2024 being the best yet.
