The Dodson Coyotes (6-11) and North Country Mavericks (7-11) are hoping to be one of the four District 3C teams to punch their ticket to the Eastern C Divisional starting on Wednesday, February 28, in Glasgow.
To do so, the teams will compete in the 2024 District 3C Tournament set to start in Glasgow on Wednesday, February 14.
The Mavericks start their 3C tourney outing against the (6-12) Nashua Porcupines who they defeated 45-36 in their regular season finale in Nashua on Saturday, February 10.
If North Country can defeat Nashua, they will be matched up with the 3C Conference Champion Scobey Spartans on Thursday, February 15, at 4:30 p.m.
The Dodson Coyotes will square off against the Circle Wildcats (11-7) on Wednesday at 7:30 p.m. Depending on the outcoming, the Coyotes will either see Lustre Christian or Frazer who face each other at 4:30 p.m.on Wednesday.
Mavericks
In North Country's win over Nashua, Blaine Downing led the team with a 21 point, 13 rebound double-double, and four steals. Coy Bowman had 13 points, four rebounds, and three steals. Kade Strommen had six points, six rebounds, and two steals. Jake Brown had three points and three assists. Laytin Erickson had two points and eight rebounds.
The Mavericks fell to Lustre Christian on Friday, February 9. The score was 65-27. Downing led North Country with 15 points. Strommen and Erickson each had four points. Chase Albus had three points and Bowman had one point.
Coyotes
The Dodson Coyotes defeated the Box Elder Bears' JV team 67-55 on Friday, but fell 65-50 to Circle on Saturday evening.
In Dodson's win over Box Elder JV, Junior Stiffarm had a 25 point, 11 rebound double-double, and five steals. Mason LoneBear had 16 points, four rebounds, and three steals. Sebastian Best had eight points, 12 rebounds, six assists, and four blocks. Frank Sonny Cole had eight points and three rebounds. Brayden Jones, Jackson Jones, and Christopher Jaynes each had two points.
In Dodson's loss to Circle, Stiffarm had 16 points. Best had eight points. Donovan Posey had eight points. LoneBear had seven points. Cole had six points. Lance KillEagle had three points, and B. Jones had two points.
