Malta Track Teams Compete In Sidney

The Malta Track and Field teams competed at the Sidney Invitational and in Glasgow for the Jean Dreikosen Memorial last Saturday.

The Mustangs tied for tenth place amongst 18 teams in the men's event with 16 points. The M-ettes were twelfth out of 18 teams with 15 points in the women's event.

Williston won both meets, The Williston men won with 95 points, and the Williston women had 99 points.

Malta is scheduled to attend the Shelby Invitational on Saturday, April 27. They are also scheduled to compete in the 42nd Annual Top Ten Meet in Glasgow on Tuesday, April 30.

M-ettes at Sidney

The Malta M-ettes were led by senior Giona Lamb. Lamb won shot put with a personal record (PR) of 36-3. She also had a new personal best of 94-5 in discus, which earned her fourth place. Lamb was also seventh in javelin with a season's best of 94-4.

The long relay consisting of sophomores Neva Jacobson, Brooklynn Knowles, Karlie LaBrie, and senior Addison Ulrich was sixth with a time of 4:42.63.

Jacobson was sixth in pole vault with a PR of 7-6. She nearly placed in the 100 hurdles, taking seventh with a time of 18.74 seconds.

Denvyr Tuss was seventh in discus with a throw of 93-1.

Though she did not place in the event, junior Ava Hanson posted a new personal best of 27-11 in shot put.

Freshman Carly Mears set a new personal best of 14-0 in long jump and a new PR of 28-5 in triple jump.

Mustangs at Sidney

The Mustangs were led by sophomore Dawson Hammond who set a new PR of 53.19 in the 400 and earned third place. He had a time of 36.83 in the 200.

Sophomore Landon Retan was fourth in shot put with a PR of 40-10.5. He was tenth in discus with a throw of 118-2.

The short relay consisting of Hammond, Mason Simanton, Kyle Darrington, and Gavin Slade took fifth with a time of 47.41.

Simanton, a junior, was eighth in the 100 with a time of 11.95. He was tenth in high jump after clearing 5-4.

Sophomore Kael Young and freshman Tripp Lefdahl both set new personal records in long jump. Young left a mark at 36-3 and Lefdahl set a mark at 34-9.

Junior Treyton Wilke set a new PR of 13.72 in the 100 and a PR of 3402 in shot put.

The Malta M-ette JV track team was sixth at the Jean Dreikosen Memorial meet hosted by Hinsdale. Malta had 27 points. The Mustangs JV was fifth with 31 points.
